E5 Support Services is offering an AEMT Core Content course. Classes begin in April at the Bay Ridge Rescue Squad. Participants can sign up for the whole course or individual sessions. Course contains PALS, ACLS and BLSHCP refreshers as well as geriatrics and WMD sessions.

It is once again time to submit your nominations for the Annual New York State EMS Council Awards. As usual our regional award winners will be recognized and submitted to State EMS as our official regional nomination for their respective category.  What you need to  know:

 

1)       All submissions must be submitted to our office by May 14, 2012 in order to be considered.

 

2)       The nomination application must be type written and can be found at http://www.health.ny.gov/nysdoh/ems/emsawards.htm

 

3)       Nominations are needed for the following categories:

 

§  Basic Life Support Provider of the Year

§  Advanced Life Support Provider of the Year

§  EMS Agency of the Year

§  Youth Provider of the Year

§  Harriet C. Weber EMS Leadership Award

§  EMS Educator of Excellence

§  EMS Communications Specialist of the Year

§  Registered Nurse of Excellence

§  Physician of Excellence

§  Commissioner of Health's Award of Excellence in EMS Activities

 

4)       From the State website: “Applications for these awards may be based on a pattern of activities that have culminated in a significant improvement of the Emergency Medical Services System in the region. The application may also be based on a single unusual event that was beyond ordinary duty. Each application must be clearly and completely documented to be considered. Where individual events are cited, they must be documented in detail giving times, places, description of event, names of witnesses, etc. Applications for a pattern of activities must be all inclusive providing details of activities, dates and describing the specific impact that the individual has had on EMS in their region. Applications recognizing a single event must be based on that event occurring in the calendar year 2011.”
